Barbital
[CAS Number 57-44-3] Barbital (barbitone) is a long-acting barbiturate previously used as a hypnotic and sedative. Sold under the brand names Veronal and Medinal, Barbital, in conjunction with other chemicals, has been used to treat insomnia and seizures. It is also used in veterinary medicine to treat central nervous system depression. Barbital is available as reference material (bulk powder and/or solution) and as calibrated, Ready-to-Use, certified reference material (CRM).
